Admissions FAQ

Why do I have to show my insurance cards every time I come to the hospital? I gave the clerk my insurance card last time I was here.

This procedure helps to ensure that your information is up to date. Updated information ensures that your bills and other correspondence will be sent to the correct address.

What time can I come and have my paperwork done for outpatient work?

Our clerks are here twenty four hours a day so you can have your paperwork done at any time. If you are having outpatient surgery, patient teaching is from 9:00am - 4:00pm.

How much is the deposit for a private room?

If you have insurance, Medicare or Medicaid - $30.00 ($10/day for 3 days)

If you are self pay - $1,030.00

What time does Dorminy Care Clinic open?

4:00pm - midnight  Monday - Friday

11:00am - 11:00pm  Saturday, Sunday and holidays

Do you have to make an appointment for outpatient work?

Lab work is accepted on a walk-in basis. Most other services, such as physical therapy, x-rays and CPS require an appointment.

When do I need to pay my Medicaid co-pay?

At the time your paperwork is completed.

If I come to the hospital often, why do I have to redo my paperwork every time?

Due to the guidelines set forth by private insurance companies, Medicaid, and Medicare, new paperwork must be filed for each visit to the hospital.

Why do I have to wait if there is no DX on my order?

If an order is presented without a DX, our medical records department is unable to code your procedure which results in non-payment by private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

Billing FAQ

I don't have insurance. Are there any programs that can help me pay my medical bills?

We have an indigent program that assists those who are financially unable to pay their medical bills. There is an application process to see if you qualify for the indigent care trust fund. If you do not, down payments are accepted along with an agreed upon monthly payment plan.

How do I apply for Indigent Care Trust Fund?

Come by the hospital and visit the Collections Department, which is located directly across the hall from the staff elevator. Melissa Burgess, Collections Manager, can assist you in determining eligibility. If you have questions, please feel free to call her at (229) 424-7174.

I just received a statement from the hospital for the full amount. Have you filed my insurance?

The first statement you receive from the hospital is a "Summary of Charges." This is a courtesy statement to let you know the total charge of your hospital visit. THIS IS NOT A BILL. If there is an insurance company listed under the insurance company heading on the statement, we have filed with your insurance. The bill that you are responsible for paying will be sent after all 3rd party payors (insurance, etc.) have been exhausted.

The only exception to this is if you are self pay, in which case, a bill will be mailed after services have been rendered.

I have received several bills from doctor's offices in addition to my hospital bill. Why?

During your stay at Dorminy Medical Center, several services could have been used including the services of physicians. These services will be billed to you directly from their offices. If you have questions about those bills, please contact the billing manager at that office. A phone number and address should be provided on your bill.
