Donate Life flag ceremony

DMC hosted a Donate Life flag ceremony in honor of Organ, Eye, and Tissue Donation on April 23rd at 10:30am in front of the hospital. We had a brief ceremony, including a few words from an organ recipient, Katrina Campbell. A Lifelink representative was present to raise the Donate Life flag. April is National Donate Life Month. The Georgia Organ, Tissue and Eye Donor registry is managed by LifeLink of Georgia, the federally designated non-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that serves Georgia and two South Carolina counties. One organ and tissue donor has the potential to save 75 lives. Organs and tissue that can be donated include: heart, kidneys, lungs, pancreas, liver, intestines, corneas, skin, tendons, bone, nerve and heart valves. LifeLink assumes all expenses related to organ and tissue recovery, so there is no cost to the family. Anyone can join the donor registry regardless of age or medical condition, and all major religions support organ donation as an act of personal charity and/or love for neighbor. For more information about organ donation or to register, visit DonateLifeGeorgia.org, or say “YES” to donation when applying for or renewing your driver license or state identification card.
