Job Description

In the area of Infection Prevention the responsibilities include: The Infection Control Practitioner is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of nosocomial infections, DNV standards, federal and state regulations.  She/He is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of nosocomial infections among patients and personnel.  By authority of the Environment of Care, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions.  She/He is responsible for assisting with inservice programs related to infection prevention and control.

Responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating the Env. Services Program to maintain the hospital & hospital owned facilities in a safe, sanitary, attractive and orderly condition. Provides orientation and education to staff members. Develops, organizes and implements programs, policies and procedures necessary to ensure departmental operations in accordance with the facilities mission and philosophy.  Participates and maintains performance improvement activities to assure highest standards of care.

Job Requirements
  • Basic computer knowledge. Current RN licensure in State of Georgia.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a supervisory position in healthcare or five (5) years in infection control.
  • Working knowledge of microbiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
  • Prefer 2 years recent experience in education/or management in an acute care facility.
  • Prefer 1 to 2 years personal computer applications and operating system experience
Experience
• ACLS • BSN desirable Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. • Three (3) or more years of previous experience in all aspects of medical surgical nursing and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
