At Silver Lights Care Center, our Senior Behavioral Health Center, we offer individualized care in a warm, supportive atmosphere. We utilize a short-term inpatient treatment process for older adults who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems. Our 12-bed geriatric unit is conveniently located in Dorminy Medical Center, so additional health concerns can also be addressed. A customized treatment plan is developed for each patient. Prior to discharge, our team will explore and recommend appropriate settings and resources to assist the patient based on his or her level of functioning. Our services include comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation, coping and life training skills, educational groups, family support, individual and group therapy, activity therapy groups, medication management and education all under the direction of a physician.

• Social withdrawal/hopelessness/helplessness
• Cognitive impairment/Increased forgetfulness or confusion
• Loss of interest in personal appearance/hygiene
• Crying spells
• Delusions and/or Hallucinations
• Aggressive or combative behavior
• Agitation
• Paranoia
• Refusing to take medications
• Recurrent thoughts of dying
• Suicidal ideations
• Homicidal ideations
• Failure of outpatient psychiatric treatment

Admission

Admissions are accepted 24 hours a day. Referrals from physicians, psychologists, mental health professionals, social workers, social service agencies, hospital emergency departments, family members, friends, and even self-referrals are accepted. All patients will be medically cleared prior to admission.

Our Staff

Our professional treatment providers include: Therapists, Nurse Managers, Licensed Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Social Workers, and an Activity Coordinator.

Payment Options

DMC Silver Lights Healthcare accepts Medicare, including most advantage plans, and other insurances. Coverage will be verified prior to admission to alert patient of copay requirements.
