Blevins returns to DMC as assistant DON

Jeanne Blevins has returned to the staff of Dorminy Medical Center as assistant director of nursing. She has also been named the director of nursing at Irwin County Hospital.

Blevins has been a nurse since 1999, when she graduated from Ben Hill-Irwin Tech as an LPN. She began her nursing career at Irwin County Hospital and continued her education at South Georgia College, becoming a registered nurse in 2002. She earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration in 2017 and is pursuing a master’s degree in healthcare leadership through Western Governors University. She has also gained valuable experience by working in rural healthcare throughout South Georgia in leadership roles that include emergency room nurse manager at Adel Memorial, director of Med/Surg and ICU at DMC and chief nursing officer at Candler Medical Center in Metter.

A cornerstone of her nursing career has been to create better patient experiences, improve quality and use best practices to insure optimal patient outcomes. She is a driven patient and nursing advocate. Blevins is married to Monroe, her husband of 33 years. They have two children and two grandchildren and enjoy spending time with them at every opportunity. In her free time, Blevins enjoys traveling, camping and watching her grandchildren play softball.
